May 5 - Beaufort, NC - Wooden Boat Show: The first weekend of May brings classic wooden boats to the Beaufort, NC waterfront to show off and to race. Events are scheduled at the North Carolina Maritime Museum, the Museum's Watercraft Center and on the downtown waterfront in Beaufort. Exhibits are in place 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. May 12-19 - Morehead City, NC - Morehead City 150th Anniversary Sesquicentennial Celebration: The Town Of Morehead City will be hosting this week long celebration. The planned activities include a North Carolina Symphony performance, train ride and reception, street dances, "Taste of Heaven" food event, daily music, firework displays, Homes & Heritage tour, art show, celebrities, exhibits and much more! May 18-20 - Morehead City, NC - Quilt Show and Merchant Mall: The annual judged show and sale of quilting work of the Crystal Coast Quilters Guild occurs at the Crystal Coast Civic Center during the third weekend of May. Harkers Island, NC - Cape Lookout Lighthouse Open House: The Cape Lookout Lighthouse will open for one-day four times in 2007 by reservation, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Space is limited, five people only per group, all climbers must be over 8 years, under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Harkers Island, NC - Cape Lookout National Seashore Interpretive Programs and Activities: Interpretive activities are presented by park rangers from Memorial Day weekend through September 30th. These include a wide range of history, natural resource, and recreational programs. Programs include Horse Watching, Habitat Hike, Lighthouse Lore, Storm Stories, Fishing with the Coast Keeper, Barrier Island Ecology, Tidal Flat Exploration and a Cape Truck Tour with a Ranger. Some programs occur each week, some scheduled programs are repeated and require reservations.
